Engaging Norfolk is a growing, voluntary movement led by Cassandra Andrews & Brian Bush who are passionate about Norfolk business. Together they aspire to be an inspirational force for change, promoting employee engagement as a better way to work
Whilst there are many different definitions of Employee Engagement, at Engaging Norfolk we believe it is the discretional effort that an employee gives when they are truly connected to the business.
Meaning that an engaged employee who feels cared for and respected has more motivation and a stronger affiliation to the business and its goals. An engaged employee is more committed, more productive and ultimately, creates more profit for your bottom line.
As identified in David Macleod’s and Nita Clarke’s 2009 report, ‘Engaging for Success’, we focus on the four key fundamentals of employee engagement.
STRATEGIC NARRATIVE
Visible, empowering leadership providing a strategic narrative (or story) about the organisation, where it’s come from, where it is going and the role each employee plays in the story.
ORGANISATIONAL INTEGRITY
Where the values on the wall and on the company website are reflected in the reality of day to day business operations and the behaviours of all staff. There is no ‘say–do’ gap present; the promises made are promises kept.
ENGAGING MANAGERS
Managers who treat their people as valuable individuals; they coach and stretch them, not only for business success but for their own personal development.
EMPLOYEE VOICE
Employees are seen not as a problem, rather as central to the solution; employees are involved, listened to, respected and invited to contribute their experience, expertise and ideas to the business.
